The market makes my heart happy

Today at 8:15am, Joan bought some darling little Baccus radishes with our “Springier” spring lettuce mix, and then when I eye-balled the coffee booth just down the way, offered to bring me coffee! She made my week.

Another lovely woman was deeply inquisitive about our soil practices. I could tell she was looking for a farmer who matched her values, and I appreciated her forthrightness.

After a conversation about our different varieties of kale, another market-goer asked if they could leave a tip, which made me blush.

Then Alex brought ME a plant. Some unusual Chinese root vegetable he swears is like a sunchoke but looks suspiciously like a grub. No lie. And my curiosity is piqued, so why not?

Lastly I hugged so many folks from years past and met three couples who are residents of Gahanna where we farm.

This is our first year at the Worthington Farmers Market and the connections, the understanding that the soil is a living entity and lastly, the joy of swapping geeky veggie stories have been uplifting.

We want say thank you to Joan, the woman who cares, the old faces and the new ones for making our first few weeks feel like we have found just the right place to connect and make difference.

Feed Me Tomatoes Urban Farm is located at the furthest southern point in front of the free parking at the UMC church which keeps us out of the traffic jam in the center of the market and easily accessible to all who are coming and going. Stop by soon if you have not already. I’d love to chat.
